Black Lace Net Jacket over Blue Silk Matka Gown

This gown was designed and made especially to be worn at the 2003 Nobel Prize ceremonies in Stockholm, Sweden. The A-line skirt and princess-style top with sweetheart neckline are made of ice blue silk matka. The jacket is made of embroidered netting accented with jet-black seed beads and sequins, and is edged with a woven seed bead trim. We later made a Chanel-style jacket and street-length skirt of the remaining silk matka, giving the wearer several opportunities for mixing and matching these wardrobe pieces.
